A Royal Decree For Herbalists:

"Be it Ordained, Established, and Enacted by Authority of This Present Parliament, that at all time from henceforth it shall be lawful to every person being the King's Subject having Knowledge and Experience of the nature of Herbs, Roots, and Waters, or of the operation of the same.... within any part of The Realm of England or within any other under the King's dominions, to practice, use, and minister in and to any...."

~ Herbalist Charter of Henry VIII (1539)

With the already high and rising cost of healthcare insurance, so many do not have it at all... So... what do we do? I remember the times I did not have any. I went to work at a local Health Food store, a few years ago, and that began my interest and love for herbs and preparing my own formulas. I hope that these recipes will benefit you as they did me. With love and healing thoughts, I write this now!

Tinctures:

A tincture is a super-concentrated liquid using herbs and alcohol. It is often referred to as the "blood" of the plant. When it is preserved in the alcohol, it has a very long shelf life... much more than bulk herbs in a jar.

A Simple Tincture Recipe:

1-2 OZ herbs per 8 OZ liquid (some herbs measure differently depending on their bulk and mass). I like to use 1/2 alcohol and 1/2 distilled water. I use Everclear, which is a grain alcohol and it is 151 proof! Potent! You can use vodka or gin... 90 proof at least. .

Fill a very clean sterile jar w/ herb preference and add liquid. Put a tight fitting lid on it, then shake it. Put it on a shelf where you will see it regularly, not in direct sunlight, Shake it 2-3X a day, whenever you think of it. In about 2 weeks, strain and bottle it. Eye dropper bottles are great for use. Store the rest in the jar you have made it in.

Tinctures are generally taken by the dropper full. Use 1-2 dropper fulls, every hour when very ill, then every 3-4 hours later, as you feel better.
